It took me almost all week to finish this read (because I have a super-crazy work schedule that leaves me mentally drained). I love the interaction between Gwendolyn and Andrew, as well as Gwen's interaction with Sophie, Emma, and Hannah. The girls should be nicknamed the Fiery Four because when they get determined to get their way, nothing will stop them! The men certainly have their hands full. This book is filled with humorous moments, historical facts, and lots of intrigue. If you made it through the first three books of the series, read this fourth installment too. It'll be worth your time. Onward to book five!

The Bride Star The Civil War Brides Series Tracey Jane Jackson 9781466419681 Books Reviews
I haven't read many romance novels in years but, I couldn't put this book down!! As with the previous three this book kept my attention and I even cried a parts of which no book has ever made me do. If you want romance, intrigue, keep you on the edge of you seat then buy all 9 books because you can't read just one!!!!!!!
I read all the books in the Civil War Bride series and enjoyed each and every one of them. Me. Jackson is a very talented writer and I am hoping that there is more to come that involves the offspring of her main characters; i.e., 'Reconstruction Brides or the Indian Wars Brides'. The only drawback is that the series was not offered as a bundle but I am confident that the powers that be will eventually realize the financial benefits in making the option to buy any series of any genre in bundles very soon (hopefully).
I love this entire series. So fun and exciting. I love this book because Andrew is such a sweet character and he deserves a win! I have read and reread these books and will continue to do so!
This one was a little different than the previous volumes. No time traveling character, but there is action & romance. The plot is well thought out, the characters are good, although I think the male characters are all beginning to blend together & sound as if they are all the same person. Their dialog and the way they react to things their wives do is almost identical, right down to the "growling". The action breaks up the romance a bit (which is good for male readers) and makes the story more than just a trashy 'Dime Romance'.
If you like to read great story lines with just a little twist of time traveling, these are the books to read. The Bride Ransom, the 4th in the series, is a great read. You will smile, you will be anxious, you might even shed a tear! Tracey Jane Jackson is a very clever author and knows how to create stories that you want to keep reading more and more. I am not a fan of "time travel" books but this series does not jump around like others I have tried to read before. The era that Tracey writes about is so well written that you find yourself so captivated, you will hardly be able to wait to read the next book.
At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like this book, but now I do! It was a great read. Rayne struck me as a spoiled brat who had gotten way too used to being in the spotlight and demanding her own way every single time. She really needed a good support system and got that through Hannah, Sophie, and Victoria. I hope that as the series continues that she will grow in maturity.
I am a HUGE Civil War buff (kinda like Sophie) and I have read all of the books in this series. I have to say that I did, on the whole, enjoy them. However, Ms. Jackson's stories are in need of some refreshing. For example, I have never seen so many characters "pinch the bridge of his nose" to show that they were getting upset, or trying to hold onto their temper. Really? This is the ONLY way Ms. Jackson can show these emotions? I think a "ran his hand through his hair" or "closed his eyes for a moment" would not have been amiss. She also seems to be a bit limited and repetitive in her word choices. Emma, Hannah, and Victoria all seem to call there spouses at some point or another "baby". However Emma is guilty of saying it the most. It got to the point of being ridiculous and painful to read.
The constant use of this endearment and the over use of the bridge pinching is annoying, however I did notice that a lot of her plots are the same! Just the names and a few points are changed. That to me says a lot and it is not a good thing.
Despite these issues, her take on the time travel, and the social conventions of the time are commendable. And like I said, it was and enjoyable read. However I can only give the series a 3 star rating.
